Welcome to the CAT website.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease of the lungs, which makes it very difficult to breathe. The symptoms experienced by people with COPD – such as ongoing cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, and tightness of the chest – can get in the way of doing simple activities, like washing or getting dressed.
The COPD Assessment Test (CAT) is a questionnaire for people with COPD. It’s designed to measure the impact of the condition on a person’s life, and how this changes over time. The CAT is very simple to administer, and aims to help doctors and nurses better manage a patient’s COPD.
