The CAT is short and simple,
and should take only a few minutes to complete.
The CAT is a short and simple assessment test, which has been developed
to be self-administered by patients.
The CAT can be used in an ongoing manner. Comparing consecutive CAT scores
for a patient will provide valuable information for the long-term follow-up
of patients.
How is the CAT administered?
The CAT questionnaire contains eight items. Patients read the two
statements for each item, which describe the best and worst scenario,
and decide where on the scale (0-5) they fit. Scores for each of the
8 items are summed to give an overall score (minimum 0, maximum 40).
A higher score indicates a worse health status1.
The CAT is available as a paper-based test and as an interactive online
tool. Use the ‘TAKE THE TEST’ icon at the bottom of the left-hand menu
to find out more about these options.
